The Gold Tone AC-12 is the latest addition to Gold Tones ever-more complete lineup of clawhammer banjos. It has everything the new old-time banjo player could want: a generous 1 7/16" string nut width ( ZeroGlide nut as standard), a separate rosewood fretboard on a Nato mahogany neck with frailing scoop, an adjustable two-way truss rod with peghead-located adjuster, a durable and great-sounding 12-inch composite rim with coordinator rod for fine action adjustment, a good-looking and functional tailpiece for easy string-changes and proper down-pressure. Ultra-light at just FIVE POUNDS (!!!), this featherweight can save your back while you trudge around the festival grounds.
Gold Tone brings back the high-quality, low-priced beginner Bluegrass banjo! The AC-5 combines full-range sound, super playability and outstanding durability. The sound is due in no small measure to the AC-5's modern composite shell. This strong, resonant material is light in weight but high in stiffness and trouble-free. Coupled with the resonator back, the AC-5 produces a punchy fourth-string bark and clear ringing high notes. You can't find a better first banjo.

An A-scale short neck version of our popular AC-1 5-string banjo. The composite makes it very durable. The size makes it lightweight and easy to transport, which is perfect for travelling, taking to the beach or for a child to play on. Includes gig bag.
Resembling the banjeaurines of old, this short scale (23.5") version of the AC-12 has seventeen frets and is tuned to A (a whole step higher that a standard banjo). The short, scooped neck is built just like its longer sibling and on the same pot assembly as the AC-12. Ideal for travel, the AC-12A is small, lightweight (just five pounds), and perfect for a long session of A or D tunes. Supplied with a gig bag.
