It is made of solid wood construction with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides and fitted with a diecast tailpiece. A full sounding octave mandola from an excellent British luthier ...The Thomas Buchanan 'Flat Top' walnut octave mandola has a solid spruce soundboard with a neat inlaid soundhole rosette, solid walnut back and sides, ebony fingerboard with pearl dot markers and a mahogany neck. The rosewood pin bridge has a bone saddle for maximum transmission of sound. Buchanan octave mandolas are double strung as standard.

At 100 years old we can certainly say that this English mandolin has a mature tone! Set up and in excellent playing condition, and as pictured. Has a beautiful colourful picture on the back of a lady playing a tambourine. Patent No. 2272 By his Majesty's Royal Letters refers to Edward V11 which dates it between 1902 and 1910 and made in the Uk.A few scratches as can be seen on the photos but no slts or cracking. This superb "Ovation" USA Mando Cello is less than a year old and is in "as new" condition. It has been converted to Irish Bouzouki tuning(GDAD).
