Description

Our company owner Steve Noon, has himself played Irish tenor banjo for over three decades,  and over these years Steve has interacted with many top professional tenor banjo players.

Steve has noted that there are many different string gauges used by top Irish tenor banjo players.

The string set here is the one preferred by Brian McGrath.

Brian plays with a wonderful feel and a lighter touch to his strings, as such Brian prefers a lighter gauge set which gives him more movement of the strings.

The Eagle-Puretone gauge that Brian prefers and plays on his 19 fret standard scale tenor banjo tuned to G, D, A, E. is 12 plain, 16 plain, 28w Nickel Wound, 38w Nickel Wound
