Description

Goodtime Classic 2 Specification:

With a Bluegrass resonator back for projection, The Classic Goodtime 2 banjo has a 3-ply violin grade maple rim and produces a bright and clear tone that projects well and is louder than an open back banjo. The Classic 2 is enhanced with a Rich Brown stain, white detailing and spikes at 7, 9, and 10. The use of spikes enables you to expand your playing from the key of G to easily play in the keys of A, B and C

Here is a banjo you can have right there by your easy chair and play between commercials or take out an play in a jam. It's a good bluegrass banjo, lighter weight and easy to carry. It's great for hours of practice with an accurate neck that is as comfortable as can be. You'll appreciate how light it is when you reach over to pick it up and enjoy playing it.

Most people who get a Goodtime banjo keep it because they love it even when they step up to their beautiful Deering banjo. The Goodtime banjo still maintains a special place in their life and this is why you don't see a lot of Goodtime banjos on the used market. It's a banjo you can take anywhere.

Created by customer demand, the Classic Goodtime banjos carry the features most sought after and not usually found on an introductory level line of banjos. Stained in a rich brown penetrating stain with a satin finish, inlaid with white dots, with a traditional fiddle peghead shape and planetary tuners, the Classic Goodtime banjos give the player an American made maple banjo with great sound and  beautiful aesthetics. Deering Banjos also chose to include 5th string spikes at 7, 9, and 10 for use in alternate tunings and side dots on the neck as seen on many professional level banjos to give banjo owners even more playing advantages.

The Deering Goodtime 2 Classic has amazing volume and brilliant tone.

What are Capo Spikes?
Capo Spikes enable you to ‘CAPO’ your 5th string and play your banjo in higher keys simply by pushing your 5th string underneath one of the installed capo spikes. You will also need to place a ‘regular type capo’ on your fingerboard. Eg. When your banjo is in standard tuning and tuned to an open ‘G’ chord and you want to play say in open ‘A’  you will need to put a regular capo on your 2nd fret and also need to ‘CAPO’ your 5th string… So, when you have a Capo Spike fitted to your 7th fret you can push your 5th string underneath the capo spike to raise the pitch of your 5th string to ‘A’.

We recommend spikes to be installed on your 7th fret (enabling the key of A) and 9th fret (enabling the key of B) and 10th fret (enabling the key of C)
Spikes are much neater than other 5th string capo types, they do not get in the way of your playing… but are always there when you need them.

Spikes were pioneered and used by the legendary Earl Scruggs and are used by most professional banjo players of today.
THE FITTING OF SPIKES WILL NOT INVALIDATE YOUR DEERING BANJO WARRANTY
