Clareen Celt 19 Fret Tenor Banjo with ABS Case
Handmade in Galway, Ireland, the Celt banjo is made completely from mahogany offering a warmer finish and tone.
In conjunction with the Clareen Flathead Tone Ring, which is similar to what you would find in most high end 5 string banjos, the Celt has a more rounded, mellow tone, with overall greater depth.
The two-piece neck of high-grade mahogany has a contrasting maple centre strip for stability and appearance. The Clareen designed Celtic knot inlay and shamrock flange give the Celt an unmistakable traditional Irish look and feel.

Neck
- The mahogany neck is separated at the back by a strip of maple offering a unique appearance and extra stability. The neck is also re-enforced with two carbon fibre truss rods embedded inside. The neck is then protected with several layers of lacquer.
- The Peghead is inlaid with the Model name and a Clareen designed, large, Celtic Knot. The Rosewood fingerboard, accented with cream Ivoroid binding, is inlaid at the 3rd, 7th, 10th, 15th, 17th& 19th frets with a Mother of Pearl dot marker and complementary, smaller, Celtic knots at the 1st, 5th and 12th frets to echo the peghead.
- The precision crafted Geared Tuners are sourced from Schaller in Germany and are made of brass and then nickel plated topped with White, Perloid buttons.
Resonator
- Mahogany with detailed grain is used for the resonator of the Celt banjo. It’s warm colour is allowed to shine through but it is protected with several layers of lacquer. There is a cream coloured Ivoroid binding around the edge of the resonator on both edges complementing the matching feature on the neck
Pot
- Clareen Banjos manufactures all of it’s tone rings by hand in our workshop in Galway, Ireland. The Clareen Flathead tone ring offers a warm, mellow tone bringing a depth to tunes.
- The Clareen Shamrock flange is made of brass. It is nickel plated and assembled in 2 or 4 pieces inside the rim of the resonator
- Clareen Grooved Tension Band with mild steel tension hooks which are nickel plated
- We use an excellent quality Waverly Style Tailpiece which is nickel plated. It has 5 “pillars” which can accommodate both ball end and loop end strings
- Brass Nickel Plated Armrest
- We use a smooth white banjo head with the Clareen logo for the Celt. This can be changed if requested
