Full description

Description

The Thomas Buchanan ...octave mandola or octave mandolin as it is sometimes called in the U.S and Canada, are both terms to describe this instrument.

The octave mandola is tuned G D A E from the low strings to the high.

The octave mandola is tuned one octave below the mandolin. It is a favourite with Irish tenor banjo and mandolin players that can adopt the same G D A E fingering for playing chords and tunes. It is an excellent session instrument for chord work or solo tune playing.

This hand built 'Buchanan' instrument has a scale length of 500mm making it one of the shortest in the market.
