The openback design featured in this model is ideal for the “old time” banjo style of playing. Other features include a hard maple neck and maple rim, guitar-style tuners, a geared 5th string tuner, single coordinator rod, Straightline tailpiece, rosewood fingerboard, and a rolled brass tone ring.

It was delivered quickly, very well packaged, and set up as I requested.
For the first 2-3 weeks, it required constant re-tuning. I suspected this was just the instrument settling down, so lived with it. After taking a small spanner to it and tightening things up a little it improved, but it can still slip after 5 mins or so of playing, or even just being put down and picked up again. Maybe this is normal for an instrument at this price, I don’t know. The bigger problem is that the first 7 frets or so are all sharp - checked with a couple of good tuners, but very noticeable even without. The octave is bang on, so the bridge is in the right place. The sound of the instrument is good for the price, but the basic quality is not what I'd expect from a £500-ish banjo. The discordant notes down the neck are so distracting when playing. Other reviewers seem happy enough, so maybe it was a Friday afternoon when they put mine together.
