Martin hand-selected the finest Hawaiian koa to give this instrument the rich grain pattern of a much more expensive ukulele. But, because it is made from HPL, you can take this concert uke anywhere—the beach, the stage, a road trip— and your only worry will be what song to play next. The Martin 2K Tenor Uke features characteristics of the Style 2 ukulele (2K Uke), but in a tenor-sized model crafted with solid Hawaiian koa top, back and sides, a wood native to Hawaii and a favorite of island players. Appointments include top binding with black/white inlay, a black/white multi-layered single rosette ring, and a rosewood bridge. The entire body is finished in a satin lacquer. With the rise of Hawaiian music in the late 1910s, Martin began making ukuleles. The line expanded from mahogany to more elaborate Hawaiian koa models. A soprano-sized model, the 5K Uke is the ukulele equivalent of a Style 45 guitar – the top of the line. Martin’s first tenor ukuleles rolled off the production line in 1929 and have been a favorite of countless players since. The TKE Uke is Martin’s latest addition to its tenor-sized lineup, featuring a gloss body and satin neck, and top, back, and sides crafted of solid koa—a wood native to Hawaii and a favorite of island players. It also features an East Indian rosewood bridge and fingerboard, select hardwood neck, applied dovetail neck joint, and nickel open gear tuners. Its size already provides plenty of volume and projection, but the ukulele’s electronics allow you to plug in and play at any volume. Developed in collaboration with Mi-Si, they provide 16 hours of play on a 60-second charge. The TKE Uke is also available for lefties and comes with a softshell case.
