Goodtime 2 Specification:
A resonator back provides more projection of sound in the Goodtime Two. We make it here in the USA, at the Deering shop with the same tooling we use to make the top of the line banjos. Greg Deering designed the Goodtime banjos because there were no low priced banjos of enough quality for people to actually learn on without difficulty or giving up. He remembers what it was like to want a good banjo and not be able to afford one, so his gift to others is the Goodtime banjo line. Designed for success, the Goodtime banjos are the lowest priced American made banjos. They are so good many professionals have recorded with Goodtime banjos.
The Goodtime Two weighs 6 lbs - about the weight of a guitar. The Goodtime Two has a natural blonde maple with a satin finish to protect it. The rich, golden tone and the reverberation off the resonator sound great. You can definitely tell a volume deference between open back and a Goodtime Two. The sound waves aren't getting trapped between you and the banjo, which makes a pretty big diference. If you want a great low priced bluegrass banjo for travel and leisure that plays correctly and is durable, this is the best buy on the market!
The Deering Goodtime 2 ...has amazing volume and quality of tone. We set up each banjo with a precise action and supply to you in standard ‘G’ tuning. An excellent fair priced USA built banjo.
The Three Ply rim is built from solid red maple (as used on pre-war classic Mastertone banjos)... The rim diameter is 279.40mm (11”) and a thickness of 14.28mm (9/16”). The solid violin maple rim also acts as the tone ring and produces a bright, clear ‘warm’ sound. 16 bracket hooks are fitted to give even tension on the tension hoop. The tailpiece is a Deering ‘Quiet’ type that accepts loop-ended string. All metal work is nickel plated to a high standard. A milky 11” diameter ‘Deering’ plastic head is fitted (top side coated) along with an ebony tipped 15.87mm (5/8”) maple bridge. The violin maple rim is natural satin finished. The Resonator is built from American maple and finished in sain to match the neck.
The neck is constructed from solid rock maple. The 22-fret fingerboard is inlaid with exotic Hardwood Bow Tie inlays at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th, and 19th frets. The nickel silver fretwork is perfectly positioned, rounded and polished for smooth playing.
The geared 5th string tuner is adjacent the 5th fret. The nut is precisely cut and filed for a comfortable string action at the first position. The 5th string tuning peg has a screw to adjust the torque for positive tuning. The Traditional Shaped Banjo Peg Head (headstock) is finished in natural satin maple. The name ‘Goodtime’ is Engraved along with a Deering Star with the following inscription ‘Made with pride In USA’. A set of Die Cast Enclosed Geared tuners are fitted. The tuners are chrome plated to match the hardware of the pot assembly. The neck is natural satin finished, to match the rim.
