We have specialist staff here at Eagle Music with no less than three ‘Irish Tenor Banjo’ players.
Steve Noon our company owner has been playing ‘Irish Tenor Banjo’ for over twenty years. During this time Steve has led and played ‘Irish Tenor Banjo’ at the longest running Irish session in Huddersfield, he has attended many all Ireland fleadhs and attended workshops and sessions with some of the greatest exponents of the ‘Irish Tenor Banjo’ Kieran Hanrahan, Mick Moloney, Seamus Egan,  John Carty, Brian McGrath, Tom Cussen, Tom Napper, Enda Scahill and many other great players have all contributed to the wealth of knowledge that Steve can now pass on to you our customer. Steve is the proud owner of five Paragon banjos! his jewel in the crown is a Deering GDL limited edition banjo, hand crafted and personally carved  for him by Greg Deering.
 ‘Irish Tenor Banjo’ is a style of playing ‘Tenor Banjo’. The normal tenor banjo is tuned to C G D A and popular for playing jazz and dixiland styles. To play Irish music on a tenor banjo, we ‘drop tune’ the banjo to G D A E this makes it easier to play ‘Irish music’ that has been written for the fiddle (the fiddle is also tuned to G D A E . The ‘Irish Tenor Banjo’ is tuned an octave below the fiddle. Some players prefer the short scale 17 fret tenor banjo, but many great players like Kieran Hanrahan play the 19 fret standard scale tenor banjo. We set up and tune all our ‘Irish Tenor Banjos’ to G D A E before supply to our customer.
