ABM Slider lap steel guitar

The ABM slider 6 is constructed from selected solid timbers. The handmade hardware in combination with German Craftsmanship is second to non right down to the fully adjustable individual 6 piece bridge and Kluson tuners. The sound and sustain of this instrument are truly awesome courtesy of the Shadow Humbucking pickup neatly housed in the space of a single coil.  Super clear and full tones can be obtained for the more traditional Hawaiian and Country Stylings but crank up the gain and you have a blistering Blues Rock sound that will blow the crowds away! The tone and volume are controlled via 2 seperate pots. They are available in Black, Blue, Red, Purple, Ivory and Mahogany (as pictured). The ABM Slider is supplied with a tone bar, picks. A purpose built flight case is available as an option. 

Steel guitars were originally invented and popularized in Hawaii. Legend has it that Joseph Kekuku, a Hawaiian schoolboy, discovered the sound while walking along a railroad track strumming his guitar. He picked up a bolt lying by the track and slid the metal along the strings of his guitar. Intrigued by the sound, he taught himself to play using the back of a knife blade.

The steel guitar differs from a regular guitar in the way that it is played. The lap steel guitar is held in your lap facing toward you. The strings are raised above the fretboard; rather than pressing them to the fretboard, a steel bar is pressed against the strings. Typically the lap steel guitar is tuned in one of several "open" tunings rather than standard guitar tuning. Here are 3 common steel guiatr tunings.
