The rim is precisely constructed for stabilty and tonal resonance, it is finished in natural satin. It has a cutout for arm comfort and a single solid hard wood crossbar. Attached to the crossbar with a leather band, is the hand-crafted tuning key (see photo) Six unique tuners are attached to the inside of the drum for even tuning. The flat edge of the rim is veneered in a pie-crust pattern. Only the finest quality, carefully selected heavy goatskins are fitted to our 'elite' bodhrans, they are firstly pinned and then finished with a natural wooden band that is fixed to the rim with approx 100 brass dome-head tacks. This high quality bodhran is a joy to play! The smaller diameter deep drums have been made very popular in recent years, as played by many top professions including the superb John Joe Kelly of 'Flook' This Roddy Turner 'Elite' bodhran has a quality second to none ...I say again, it is so comfortable to play and has amazing depth, power and range of tone.
