The back and sides are built from solid olive ash throughout with its distinct chequered look; the back has a rosewood inlay down the centre joint. The back of the body measures 400mm (15.750”) x 390mm (15.35”attractive rosewood binding protects the front and back joints. The depth of the body is 100mm (3.937”) tapering to 65 mm (2.559”) at the heel.

The carefully selected soundboard (top) is built from solid Norway spruce and has a maple/ebony chequered binding around the sound-hole and outer edge adjacent the rosewood binding. The round sound-hole is 81mm diameter (3.188”). A fixed height ebony bridge with a ‘Corian’ compensated saddle is fitted to the soundboard for maximum transmission of sound. The heavily nickel-plated trapeze tailpiece is custom made by PD and designed to accept loop end strings.

The Neck Assembly… The maple neck is centrally spliced with a strip of ebony and has an internally fitted adjustable truss rod. The ebony fingerboard is fitted with twenty-six nickel silver frets precisely positioned, honed and polished. Pearl dot markers are inlaid at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th & 15th frets …small black side position marker dots are inlaid in the maple neck binding at the same positions.

The fingerboard is fully bound with maple and rosewood binding to match the body. The precisely cut nut is made from natural bone. The ‘snake-head’ shape headstock is faced with maple with a central black sycamore strip and inlaid with a mother of pearl Davidson ‘D’ insignia. The oval truss rod cover is ebony. A set of white pearl buttoned ‘Gotoh’ mini high precision tuners are fitted for positive, trouble free tuning.
