Extreme Bending Harp'

A revolutionary new diatonic harmonica designed by Rick Epping and patented by Hohner. The XB-40 Extreme Bending Harp frees the bending capability of all twenty reeds by isolating them from their opposing reeds and assigning each reed its own auxiliary reed.

The auxiliary reeds are tuned to permit the regular reeds to be bent to a musically logical and desirable degree, normally two half steps, and are activated only during note bending. This is achieved by the incorporation of a patented valve chamber, which directs the blow breath only to the blow reeds and their auxiliaries and the draw breath only at the draw reeds and their auxiliaries. In addition to the increase in bending capability, the valve chambers and auxiliary reeds create a rich tone and volume for greater than that of a traditional Richter harmonica. Features: Complete control of bending on every note using normal Blues harp bending techniques, resulting in a full chromatic scale throughout Range of expression greatly increased over a regular Richter model through the ability to bend up to or down to any note. Auxiliary reeds tuned to permit bending to any desired note. Patented valve chambers produce rich tonality and an as yet unheard of level of acoustic amplification. Only twenty standard wind saver valves are needed for all forty reeds, minimising valve noise and improving response time. Reed valves are completely separate from reeds and reed plates, simplifying tuning, assembly and servicing.
