What more could a banjo player ask for than to be greeted on arrival at Eagle Music Shop with big broad smile from a beautiful lady, Warm hospitallity in the form of a hot coffee and ofcourse the banjo of your dreams ready for collection. About a year ago I contacted Steve Noon with an advanced inquiry about the process of buying a Stelling Sunflower. Steve told me that he had Red Fox in stock and it was mine if I wanted it. I explained that it might be some time before I had the funds available to pay for it. In September last the funds finally came through and I contacted Steve but alas the Red Fox was gone. Steve knew I was disappointed and went out of his way to try to help me with an alternative option. Like most folk who drink Guiness, I was in not great rush, someone elses dream had just been fulfullled and I was happy for them. I just sat back and waited till the head had settled. Important decisions shouldn't be rushed On Tuesday of last week Steve contacted me and told me he was expecting to take delivery of a Stelling Master Flower and enquired if I was I still interested in purchasing a Stelling. How's that for great Customer Service. what other company do you know of in the UK today that delivers that level of personal attention. But Customer Service didn't stop there . When I was at the shop on Saturday, Rachel, Steves daugther had to dash away on a family matter and I received the personal assistance of Graham who looked after me the whole time I was at Armitage Bridge. He was on hand to assist me make a few purchase at the till and gave me some inside advice about the Jens Kruger Master class. I bought some 5th Nut's for my other banjo and asked if the guy's in the workshop could assist me by cutting a centre pilot slot. No problem we can do that came the reply. I sent a personal message to Rachel thanking her for the hospitallity she had organised, I went on to outlining my experience at the shop on Saturday. Rachel replied saying "sorry I omitted to give you the strings and nut driver, we have put them in the post today along with a special ‘signed’ copy of the Kruger Masterclass DVD with my compliments." It is a match for any guitar three or four times the price, how they do it for the money heavens knows. I would say it is the equal of the Martin it is based on. I received my Ohana Soprano Ukulele and Stagg case promptly a few days ago and am delighted with both. Firstly the Ukulele came very well packaged and, as promised,nicely set up to play too. I have bought a few other lesser ukulele's on the internet as I have progressed as a improving beginner over the last 10 months, I have learnt to my cost that it is essential to have the instrument set up properly. I was delighted that you do so on instruments sold via your website too. I did a lot of research online and in the high street on what uke I wanted next as it needed to be a good step up from my current one. I discovered you online but also had a personal recommendation from someone who was very happy with Eagle music I had set my heart on an Ohana by then as they had very favourable reviews and discovered you sold them! The price was great and I benefitted from the 10% discount for new customers which made it a fabulous buy. Thank you for a great all round experience. I will be coming back to you in the future for all things ukulele!

Dear Steve and team, I called at your lovely shop today to pick up my Deering Sierra lefty banjo. This is only mine and my wifes second visit and we would like to say that the visits were a very pleasant experience, as apart from your wonderful range of instruments and accessories you and your staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming and very knowlegeable about the instruments etcetera, it all made the 170 mile round trip worth it. Hi Steve. I’ve had my Deering Saratoga Star with the Jens Kruger tone ring for just over a week now. Purchasing it without having a chance to play it was something of a leap of faith, and I was very nervous as I extracted it from it’s packaging. I shouldn’t have been so worried. It is absolutely wonderful. It rings like a bell on the treble strings and the base has power and penetration in spades. It has even consistency and clarity everywhere on the fret board. The sustain is absolutely amazing. I’m a big fan of Tony Ellis and like to play a lot of his slower pieces in double C tuning. The sustain makes a huge difference with kind of music, but it still has all the punch and note separation desirable for faster bluegrass. I had been a little bit concerned as I knew the neck was a bit thicker than the slim neck found on most Deering banjos. Again I shouldn’t have worried. It took about ten minutes of playing and it felt fine. I only have one very small criticism. You can see that the woods are high quality maple with very pretty figuring – but only just – they have used a very dark stain to the point where you can hardly see how nice the wood looks. However that is nitpicking – I love this banjo and wouldn’t swap it for anything. Setup was also excellent with a really nice low action. So a big thanks in closing. This is a wonderful instrument and dealing with Eagle Music was a pleasure. Best Regards, Brian Swan

Hello Rachel Happy to say my beautiful Ozark 2260 has been delivered this morning (goodness, sounds like a baby announcement!) and all is good. So well packed, thanks for that. Please thank Matt for all his help, and my thanks to you too & everyone at Eagle Music. I just hope I can do the mandolin justice, my first tentative plucks made it ring out so I know I must practice, practice, practice if I want to achieve anything. My very (un)musical husband said he hoped I didn't have to 'plug it in' ! (I have 2 electric guitars already) and he expects to hear 'Leaning on a lampost' soon, oh dear ... Hope you're not under 6 foot of snow, from what we've been hearing on the news - at the moment it's just cold & very windy here in Kent, but guess winter isn't done with us yet. Having played the Saratoga Star banjo I bought from Eagle Music for about 7 months now I would like to add my endorsement to this wonderful instrument and recommend other players to try it out.The banjo I own has the Kruger ring and the newer violin grade maple shell. The sound from this particular set up is wonderfully clear and bright in all positions on the neck.You can extract an amazing range of different tones by changing the position of your picking hand in relation to the bridge.Close to the bridge you get a sharp and strong bluegrass sound. Move your hand further away up towards the neck and the tone gets warmer and mellower. In all positions the note separation is nothing short of miraculous. It is also very even in tone when you play scales in the higher position on the neck moving from 4th to 1st strings which is rare enough on even high end instruments. Many people both banjo players and people I have played for have remarked on the beauty of the tone. The workmanship in terms of wood, finish and metal parts is excellent and shows no deterioration despite being played every day since I bought it for several hours each day. I ordered the banjo with stainless steel frets and I am glad I did as there is no sign of wear on any fret yet! Nickel silver frets would already have been quite heavily marked by now as I know from experience. My thanks go to the team at Eagle Music who recommended this banjo to me and who provided such excellent service. P.S Check out the You Tube video of Jens Kruger playing and talking about this instrument, he gives a very good description of the potential of this instrument.

Hi Thanks for getting the bridge to me so quickly. As you are aware I bought a capo and 5th string capo pins from you and wanted to install them once the new bridge (string spacing) was installed .. the drills I ordered also came today so I am go! I had ordered a few of the cheaper SM bridges to play around with height a spacing, having decided on 5/8 I decided to buy IMO a better Grover unit. Thanks again for the excellent service. Hello Steve, I visited Eagle Music Shop last weekend to get some advice on learning to play the banjo, and learn more about the instrument itself. Can I just say I thought your customer service was outstanding. From the minute I walked in the door to be greeted with a friendly smile, the offer of help, and a hot drink, I instantly felt comfortable. Alan was assigned to assist me - he was a pleasure to deal with, and a wealth of knowledge. His no pressure approach, and open mindedness to all the options available to me, led me to purchase a Deering Goodtime 5 string starter package. I collected the banjo a couple of days later as you kindly kept it safe for me until I finished my visit to the Peak District. Again, the friendly welcome, and excellent service from Matt who gave me some great advice on learning material led to me purchasing this as well. I feel I've made two excellent choices. One in purchasing a quality and great value Deering banjo, and two, for purchasing it from the Eagle Music Shop. Rarely, if ever, do I write any kind of review, but the service at Eagle Music has been exceptional. When I first ordered my Tanglewood NS-15 it arrived damaged by the courier, Eagle Music had absolutely no problems having the item returned and replaced for another guitar. After nearly 2 years my guitar needed a bit of work and I sent it back to the shop. They were very helpful and communication with Rachel is always very good. Having previously bought only a couple of small items online from Eagle Music I then wanted a Mahogany Deering Sierra banjo. When it came to buying a Banjo online I had trepidations as it had much more value than my earlier purchases. To cut to the chase, having read great reviews regards the Deering stuff and Eagle Music I thought about it for a long time but eventually having been won over by the good press they had I went ahead and ordered the Sierra. I need never have worried as the Sierra Banjo could not have been more than I wished for. This was set up to how I asked, has brilliant tone and so easy to play. Eagle Music turned out to be a great company with both pre-sale and after sale help. No one could be more paranoid and wary about buying instruments online than me yet having had such great service I went ahead and bought a Goodtime 2 banjo as a general practice banjo. I was absolutely amazed as to how good this Goodtime banjo sounded and how well made it was.When the banjo was delivered it was so well packaged I was ages getting to the banjo, unlike many delivered goods which arrive hardly wrapped at all. If anyone has reservations about getting an instrument online then I can recommend 100% Eagle Music and the Deering banjos. After 40+ years of guitar playing, I wanted to branch out and learn to play the banjo. After 2 long phone calls to Matt, I decided this was the shop I needed to visit. What a friendly welcome! There was no sales pressure and Matt spent the best part of 2 hours guiding me through all the choices. It was a 360 mile round trip but worth it for the time spent in the shop. Every one was so friendly - I was asked whether I wanted a coffee before what I had come to buy. I cannot rate the service and selection enough. Thank you!
